17 Easy Online Jobs – Guide to Successful Working from Home

Need cash? Whether you have lost your job due to the COVID-19 pandemic or have extra time on your hands, like a stay-at-home mom or a retired professional, you are probably thinking about getting a job. Also, I think that not having a side income at all is a huge mistake. With the health crisis and the lockdown in place, not many of us are looking to become a waiter or an Uber driver. The safest bet is landing an online job.

Working from home is not a new thing. Throughout history workers and their employers have looked for ways to work from home. Is also called Telecommuting because you do not commute (travel) to work. It became more well-known in the 1970s with the rise of new telecommunications technologies which made everything possible. Companies always look for ways to cut costs and employees have always considered it to be sort of a dream job — not wasting time in traffic jams and working from the comfort of your own couch.

I started working online a long time ago, as a student. I was an English Lit major, so it was easy for me to find jobs like tutoring. Students can always use some extra cash, and you can choose the time when you work, adapt it to your daily schedule, which works wonderfully for all parties involved. When I started out, all I needed was a computer and internet access to do my little sidekick.

Luckily, things haven’t changed a lot! For the vast majority of online jobs, you just need a computer and a reliable, fast internet service. Depending on the type of work you decide to do, you may also need different software and apps installed.  To make life easier, you can designate a distraction-free home office in your home. That’s it! Now you can start searching.

How to Start Searching for Easy Online Jobs

Before you start your search, it is a good idea to make a list of your likes, dislikes, hobbies, some set of skills, past job experiences, education history, completed courses, and more. Maybe you like making artsy stuff and haven’t even considered selling it online until now. Or you like playing the guitar for your girlfriend but haven’t thought of tutoring it online. If you have a particularly nice voice, you should remember to include it on your list, along with any skill set that makes you stand out.

Before you start actually working, check your equipment, update computer programs, apps you may need, secure your internet access and arrange your home office area to work without interruptions.

To help you with your search, I will list some online jobs that don’t require any previous professional experience or education, and where you get money fast. These are not get-rich-fast types of employment, nor can they replace nine to five jobs. Not at first, anyway.

I will not list perhaps unrealistic jobs for the majority of people, like becoming a YouTuber, a Podcaster or a Video Gamer. These jobs do require a lot of time, talent and skills to start earning the big bucks. Some examples of famous Youtubers with highly lucrative full-time careers are PewDiePie, Ryan’s World, Yuya, Ninja, etc. They have millions of subscribers and, therefore, earn millions of dollars.

But, hey! Don’t let me stop you from trying and living your dream. If you’ve got what it takes, go for it! For the rest, read on:

Working from Home – Can Online Jobs Be Trusted?

How to avoid scams?

Don’t get discouraged easily because there are many legitimate ways to earn extra cash working from home. Do your research to avoid scams and find reputable sites. Google the company, google the job position. Many online job platforms recognize and eliminate scams.

Any website that asks for your money up-front is probably best to be avoided. If a craft-making job asks you to give them money for materials first, move over to the next job offer. If you have to buy expensive software first, and only then you can start working from home, you should avoid that one too.

Never give out your social security number or bank account information.
